Boxwood

Buxus Sempervirens

Herbal lore attributes many healing virtues to boxwood, but it is virtually unused for medicinal purposes today. In modern times its value lies mainly in its dense, durable, finely grained wood. In addition to its traditional use in fashioning decorative boxes, it is used for inlay and other ornamental woodwork.

The leaves contain poisonous substances and have caused animal deaths.
