Cleavers

Galium Aparine

Cleavers is known to modern herbalists as a remedy for vitamine C deficiency as well as for urinary and skin problems, but research has not substantiated its value as a diuretic or claims that it combats psoriasis. The seeds can be roasted and made into an ersatz coffee, and the dried plant is used as a tea substitute in some parts of the world. The cooked shoots and young plants make a nourishing vegetable dish. A red dye can be extracted from the root.
