Lady's-mantle

Alcheilla Vulgaris

Old-time herbalists used lady's-mantle to stop bleeding, and to heal wounds and bruises. In folk medicine today, the dried herb is prescribed for diarrhea and dysentery, and for excessive menstruation as well as general bleeding. To some extent these uses may have arisen because lady's-mantle contains tannin, which is astringent and thus stops bleeding.
