Tarragon

Artemisia Dracunculus

Tarragon is best known as a culinary herb. Current herbals list the plant as a diuretic, an appetite stimulant, and an emmenagogue (for bringing on menstruation). Pharmacologists who have investigated tarragon's use as an emmenagogue find some evidence but no positive proof of the validity of this use.

There is evidence from experimental animals that tarragon's essential oil can cause cancer if taken in large doses and over a long period of time.
